Whitemud Resources is committed to environmentally responsible development in the areas where we operate, and to protecting the health and safety of the public and our employees.
Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The manufacture of cement generates about one tonne of carbon dioxide per tonne of cement. By comparison, the manufacture of metakaolin generates 55% fewer greenhouse gas emissions. So, substituting up to 20% WhitemudMK for cement yields a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per substitute tonne (disclaimer).
Dry Process
Whitemud Resources uses a unique, dry process (patent pending) to manufacture WhitemudMK. Other processes typically use three cubic metres of water per tonne of produced metakaolin.
Increased Durability of Concrete
Using WhitemudMK as a supplementary cementing material (SCM) in concrete production improves durability, so structures last longer and need fewer repairs.
Lighter Coloured Concrete
Buildings made with WhitemudMK are lighter in colour than those made with more traditional cementing materials, giving them increased albedo, or reflectivity. Lighter-coloured buildings reflect light in the summer and require less energy for cooling.
